Hey everybody,

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow will be GTUG KL's 1st inaugural meetup. The event will happen at iTrain, starting from 4:30pm till approximately 6:30pm, depending on how "hot" it gets.

A big thank you to iTrain and here's nifty gadget by the iTrain people to help you getting to the venue. You can even add the gadget to your iGoogle page.

It's made using Google technology. Awesome :)

GTUG KL meetup #1

We're having our 1st meetup this 27th June 2009!

For our 1st meetup, we will be talking about Android. Android is a complete set of software for mobile devices: an operating system, middleware and key mobile applications developed by the Open Handset Alliance, an initiative led by Google. With more Android based phones coming out from the factoires of HTC, Samsung and other major phone makers, Android is hot stuff. We're going to introduce & talk a little bit about Android, the Android Market & how to begin developing Android applications.

Here's our agenda:

4:30pm - Opening by the organiser.
4:45pm - "Hello Android" by Nazrul Kamaruddin.
5:15pm - Lightning Talks.
6:00pm - Break. Breakout sessions.

Hello Android

Nazrul will be talking a little bit about Android: the origins, the potential, how to begin making apps. For the last part of the presentation, he will be demoing the Android SDK and a demo app.

Lightning Talks

A Lightning Talk is a short presentation at GTUG KL meetups. Unlike other presentations, lightning talks last only a few minutes and several will usually be delivered in a single period by different speakers. You can share your experiences or rants using GMail, Picasa, YouTube and any other Google technology & services. Share your shortcuts working around Google Docs. You can even talk about your own personal projects that's using App Engine. You can pre-submit your lightning talk session by sending me an email: nazrul at gtugs dot org. You can just do it spontaneously on that day!

RSVP your attendance at the Facebook event page & see you there!

GTUG KL Meetup - Let's talk about Google Android

For our 1st meetup, it's going to be about Google Android. With more Android based phones coming out from HTC, Samsung and other major phone makers, Android is hot stuff. Today, Google Code Blog posted a nice set of Android related session videos from the recent Google I/O conference.

Nice timing!

Have a read 1st and let's talk more at our meetup! We will try to play Android videos, so that everyone can watch & learn together.

We're still looking for a good venue for the 1st meetup, and we're kinda fussy like that :D That's because we'd prefer a place where there's good, reasonable WIFI, the very least. If there is a cocktail or coffee bar, that's a super plus! If you have any suggestions, tell us & let us know where so we can check the place out.

Have a good weekend! Cheers :)

Oh, when is the 1st meetup you ask? It's going to be on the 27th this month. Hope you can make it!
